Children With Special Needs

Charis High Academy adopts a ‘whole school approach’ to Children With Special Needs (CWSN). We have a qualified special educator who is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the school’s special education policy and liaises with parents, staff and external agencies to ensure that our children’s needs are met. We make provisions for children with a wide range of needs: learning, physical, emotional and social. We meet the needs of these children through careful planning of lessons and specific resources alongside our highly skilled team of teachers and teaching assistants. We aim to create an environment of equal opportunities for everyone. As an inclusive school, we are committed to raising the attainment of all children with due regard to their individual circumstances. We are committed to challenging discrimination against those with disabilities and preparing all children for life in a diverse society. We recognize that it is the responsibility of everyone in our school community to ensure that this ethos is upheld and consistently reflected in practice. We systematically assess, evaluate and regularly review the impact of our school accessibility plans on the life, attitudes and achievements of all groups and individuals in our school.
